Sustainability

Sustainability isn’t just a word. It’s a commitment to changing the way things are done in an effort to affect change. To reduce our carbon footprint and stand as a corporate example of how to behave ecologically. To prove that profits shouldn’t come at the expense of the environment. Now or ever.

Lacey Act Compliant

To ensure all of our products meet the strict guidelines we impose for ongoing and continued sustainability, it is mandatory that all woods used in the manufacturing of all of Marcello brands are Lacey Act compliant. The Lacey Act legislation requires that all importers declare the species and country of origin of any and all wood products and is intended to protect forests worldwide from deforestation and damaging practices. It is also designed to prevent illegitimate wood products from entering the United States. The Lacey Act, which was originally signed into law in 1900, was expanded to add provisions to address the global illegal logging trade. It also insures substandard flooring products aren’t imported and sold below fair market value.

CARB Compliant

To further our joint stewardship of the fragile resources Marcello uses to produce our products, we state that all Marcello Flooring products are CARB-Phase 2 compliant and made with formaldehyde-free adhesive. Strict formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products require that particleboard, medium density fiberboard (MDF) and hardwood plywood manufactured for sale or use in California must comply with the new California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations. Some of the strictest in the world. Under the watchful eye of the Federal EPA, the CARB rule is being monitored for the purpose of their own analysis. Analysis that will soon result in a global-first wood products emission standard.
